Turmeric is a spice that comes from the turmeric plant. It is commonly used in Asian food. It contains a yellow-colored chemical called curcumin, which is often used to color foods and has powerful biological properties.
As per WebMD, Turmeric is commonly used by people for conditions involving pain and inflammation, such as osteoarthritis. It is also used for hay fever, depression, high cholesterol, a type of liver disease, and itching. Some people use turmeric for heartburn, thinking and memory skills, inflammatory bowel disease, stress, and many other conditions, but there no good scientific evidence to support these uses.

Use to add the signature bright yellow colour, and an earthy gingery mouthfeel to curries. Commonly used for Indian, Malaysian and Thai food.
Recipe for turmeric latte:
- 350ml almond milk (or any milk of your choice)
- ¼ tsp ground turmeric
- ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
- ¼ tsp ground ginger
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp maple syrup
Method:
Put all the ingredients in a saucepan and whisk constantly over a gentle heat, ideally with a milk frother if you have one. Once hot, pour into mugs and sprinkle with a little more cinnamon to serve.
